essence of discipleship

Recently I have been thinking through the core of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus the Messiah and it seems that the core of what it means to learn and mature as his peace and solitude b&wdisciples can be expressed in two essentials.

Relationship – to mature as disciples we need to grow in our relationship with the trinitarian God, with other disciples and with the world as we relate to those in the world  as the redeemed new creations that we have been made in Christ.

Reflecting– to mature as disciples we need to grow by the en-dwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to reflect Christ in whose image we have been remade and to learn to related to and love God’s world as he does.

And I’m convinced that these relationship and reflection essentials can’t occur apart from expression and practice in a community of followers of Jesus.
