National poetry month

So April is National poetry month and I wanted to make some small contribution to this. Here is one of what will hopefully be three poems before the end of the month. This is a poem I started awhile ago and have been working on cleaning up up some rhyme problems.

On this journey

On this journey

Weak and weary

Grounded in a land dusty and thorny

Yet we hear a hopeful story

Of a way growing ever greener

Planted and tended by our redeemer

In it’s midst golden grain and the richest vine

To our straining eyes a sight so divine

Fed from rushing springs

Pouring past stones he sings

“Come my beloved and blessed

Experience more joy than you could have guessed

On this journey

So weak and weary

Come taste and find life and rest

Come rest and receive my best”
